Intense Pulsed Light Treatment for Rosacea
Acne and Rosacea Briefs feature the mother-daughter dermatologist team of Saida Baxt, M.D. and Rebecca Baxt, M.D., discussing the use of intense pulsed light (IPL) Photofacial treatment for the flushing, blushing, and telangiectatic components of rosacea. These components are sometimes less responsive to the standard treatments currently available for rosacea.

Rosacea is a chronic disease that affects over 11 million Americans. It often starts with the symptoms of easy flushing and blushing. These episodes of flushing lead to the development of permanent red lines called telangiectasia. There are people who only have redness and other patients have pimples, and some have both. We can treat rosacea with creams and pills, but it's the Photofacial program that is most exciting. It reduces the redness and flushing and gives many patients relief from their symptoms and well as cosmetic improvements.
