Smoothbeam
is here! For those of you waiting for a "no down-time" approach
to treating wrinkles or acne-we have the laser for you! Smoothbeam has
been recently FDA approved for treating acne and was originally FDA
approved for treating wrinkles. Smoothbeam is a diode laser that is
absorbed by the water in the undersurface of the skin. It shrinks the oil
glands and gets rid of acne cysts and bumps. It remodels the collagen
underneath the skin and minimizes wrinkles.
It sounds too good to be true but it really
works! We've tried it on our staff and ourselves and we love the results!
So now it's time to offer it to our patients too! It is so easy to do. The
laser uses a cold 'cryogen' spray to protect and numb the surface of the
skin so discomfort is minimal. We recommend that our patients use a
numbing cream to make the procedure even more tolerable. Patients may be
red in the areas treated immediately after, but the redness usually goes
away within an hour. 
The
main side effects, which are rare, are hyper and hypo pigmentation of the
areas treated which usually goes away with time and treatment.
We recommend 3-5 treatments, on a schedule
of one treatment every 3 weeks. Call and come in for a consultation with
