"Tissue Glue" Facelift

Tissue Glue Facelift | New Jersey | ParamusImagine having your facelift on Friday and going to dinner with friends on Sunday. We are not talking about a "mini" lift or the partial operation called the "weekend facelift." Sounds pretty crazy, until the Tissue Glue Facelift came along.

A standard facelift would involve extensive swelling, bruising, large bandages, sometimes drains for several days to remove the accumulated blood, significant pain due to the swelling, etc. All of this meant that the patient was stuck in the house for weeks, or even longer before they could begin to emerge.

This put a tremendous amount of pressure on people whose lives did not permit this amount of time out of work or social activity. With all of us leading hectic lifestyles these days, the first questions a plastic surgeon would get is not how much does it cost, but how do I find the time off to have my facelift.

Evicel™, distributed by Johnson and Johnson, has caused a true revolution in the field of plastic surgery. At the end of the operation, the surgeon applies the Evicel™ under the skin, and simply holds things in place for 3 minutes. Stitching of the edges is now minimal or optional; but that's not the exciting part. The fact is that the skin is now immediately stuck down to the underlying tissue.

The deeper layers have been tightened during the lifting process and this skin looks as if it had not been disturbed. No drains, bandages, bruising, etc. Most patients report taking a few Tylenol for a couple of days; not the very strong pain medication that used to be ordered. Patients coming in for their 24-hour post operation visit look as if they are 3 weeks post op from surgery.
