KYBELLA® is the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness. Many men and women complain of the fat and fullness under their chin, commonly referred to as a “double chin.” You may have inherited your double chin or the fullness is caused by weight gain. You no longer have to be unhappy with your profile or undergo surgery. There is now a non-surgical option to reduce moderate to severe fat below the chin and to have a more contoured chin that improves the appearance of your profile.

What Is A Double Chin or Submental Fullness?

Submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin,” is a common yet under-treated facial aesthetic condition that can impact a broad range of adults, including both men and women. Causes for submental fullness may include:

  • Aging: It may naturally develop as you age
  • Genetics: Simply said, it may be part of your DNA
  • Weight gain: It may be a result of gaining weight

Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the condition may not go away, and can make you look older and heavier than you actually are. If you don’t want to have liposuction or undergo a surgical procedure, ask Dr. Rebecca Baxt and Dr. Saida Baxt if Kybella® is right for you. Men, you also may be a candidate for Kybella®, learn more how this injectable can help you achieve your facial re-contouring goals. (Visit our male KYBELLA® treatment page)

What Is KYBELLA® and How Does it Work?

Results may vary for different patients and are not guaranteed

KYBELLA® is a prescription medication that is made from deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in your body. Kybella® works by destroying fat cells when injected into the fat beneath the chin.* BAXT CosMedical® board certified dermatologists may recommend Ultherapy® if patients desire to tighten the skin. Ultherapy® uses ultrasound energy to help lift and tighten skin on the face, neck and chest.

Kybella® is a nonsurgical, in-office treatment session that is customized to help you achieve your treatment goals.

How Many KYBELLA® Treatments Will I Need?

Many patients treated with KYBELLA® experience visible contouring of their chin profile. As demonstrated in the BAXT CosMedical® Kybella® patient’s before and after photos, improvements vary but are typically seen after two to four treatments.* The exact number of injections will be based on your desired goals and the amount of fat under your chin. Dr. Rebecca Baxt advises patient that once the aesthetic goal is achieved, re-treatment is not expected.*

Are There Side Effects with KYBELLA®?

The most common side effects of Kybella® include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of firmness in the treatment area. Kybella® has globally conducted over twenty clinical studies, with more than 1,600 people treated.

After my KYBELLA® Injections Will I Need Time to Recover?

For most patients, downtime is minimal and occurred most commonly after the first treatment session due to swelling and redness.* When scheduling your treatments, keep your social plans and work commitments in mind.
