We at Baxt CosMedical® Plastic Surgery & Dermatology are honored to be the first in Bergen County to offer Volbella® from brand leader Allergan. Volbella® is FDA approved to reduced perioral lines and lasts up to one year*. It works great for those small stubborn lines around the mouth area.
What is Volbella®?
Volbella® is another great hyaluronic acid (HA) derma filler in our armamentarium. It is safe and effective. Hyaluronic acid fillers are our favorite since HA is a natural substance that occurs naturally in our own bodies. The HA in the filler is made in a natural chemical reaction, and is a clear natural gel. We have experience with HA fillers for over a decade and we love them and use them every day.
The main side effects of any filler are bruising and bumps. We recommend you schedule the treatment when you do not have any big events planned that week. Bruising can be minimized with avoiding medications that increase risk of bruising. For a full list see our medication information. Common culprits to avoid, if you can are aspirin, baby aspirin, ibuprofen, Motrin, Alleve, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. Bumps from HA fillers often go away quickly with light massage within a few days. Any that persist can be removed with an enzyme treatment in the office.
Who is a good candidate for Volbella®?
Volbella® is the answer for anyone with fine lines around the mouth and lips. We can improve them significantly in a brief office visit.
There is minimal discomfort. However, we can use a topical numbing cream either at home on in our office or both, to minimize discomfort. Another alternative we use to numb is ice. It is a very tolerable treatment done in a quick and easy office visit.
If you have been concerned about lines around your nose and mouth we recommend you contact our office today to see if you are a good candidate for the new filler Volbella®.
