Now offered at BAXT CosMedical®…
Sebacia, the first new acne treatment breakthrough in nearly two decades!
Dr. Rebecca Baxt is excited to offer this breakthrough acne treatment which was recently FDA-cleared in the U.S. Sebacia is a treatment for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne.
Acne is a very common condition, affecting eighty-five percent of men and women ages to 12 to 24. It also true that acne affects adults. Some adults continue to get acne well into their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. It is even possible to get acne for the first time as an adult. Dermatologists call this “adult-onset acne” or, for women, “hormonal-onset acne” when their estrogen levels decline. While much is known about the causes of acne, results are variable and often unsatisfactory causing people of all ages embarrassment and in some cases anxiety.
How Does Sebacia Acne Treatment System Work?
Dr. Rebecca Baxt, board certified dermatologist, has treated thousands of patients with various types of acne.
Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease which is characterized by comedones (blackheads, whiteheads) pimples, pustules, and papules.
Cystic acne is a more serious type of acne in which infections penetrate deeply into the skin, causing red bumps which can be painful and leave scars.
The Sebacia Acne Treatment System works to treat the various types of acne in ways other laser systems can’t. FDA-cleared Sebacia Microparticles selectively targets the sebaceous (oil-producing) glands, providing Dr. Baxt with an innovative acne therapy which targets the root cause of acne. Sebacia uses real gold microparticles and a laser light to reduce the oil production in patient’s sebaceous glands.
The Sebacia Acne Treatment is done in a series of treatments at BAXT CosMedical®. It involves three easy steps:
- The treatment session begins with a thorough facial cleansing with mild soap.
- The gold microparticles are gently massaged into your pores. Excess particles are gently wiped off. Your skin is cooled with ice packs.
- The last step is for Dr. Baxt to carefully apply a dermatology-approved YAG laser to the skin to heat the gold microparticles. The laser heats the pores and glands that produce oil. The selected heating of your skin targets the underlying skin resulting in fewer acne lesions and an improvement in the appearance of your skin.
Dr. Baxt is familiar with treating darker skin color. More caution is required when treating darker skin types with a laser.
BAXT COSMEDICAL® ACNE TREATMENT SUCCESS STORY
“I have struggled with cystic acne for most of my teen and adult life. Over the years, I have tried numerous treatments including monthly chemical peels, injections, 2 courses of Accutane, oral antibiotics, and every topical cream in the book. Dr. Baxt suggested Sebacia as a possible solution to put my acne in remission. I received the treatment in February 2020 and after 5 months can say I have had excellent results. Previously, I never wanted to be seen without makeup on and would never think to leave the house without it! I can proudly say those days are behind me and this treatment is worth every penny for the confidence it has given me. I am so grateful to Dr. Baxt for her guidance and for allowing me to be the first patient in her office to receive it. Do not hesitate–get your treatment scheduled today! You will not be disappointed!”*

What Are The Results?
The treatment is completed in three one-hour appointments over three weeks. Patients are comfortable and there is no significant downtime. Patients see mild-to-moderate redness after treatment which lasts for a few hours in most patients.
After treatment, acne improves and continues to improve for the weeks and months following the last treatment. Clinical data demonstrated an average improvement of approximately sixty-five percent at 3 months, seventy-four percent improvement at 6 months, and eighty-five percent improvement at 12 months.*
Dr. Rebecca Baxt advises patients that Sebacia Microparticles are not detected in the skin (pores and glands) after approximately 4 weeks.
As with any acne treatment, it may not be effective in everyone. In addition to the Sebacia Acne Treatment, the following are other effective treatment plans for Acne and Acne Scarring.
