Smoothbeam Laser for Acne, Scars, Fine Lines, and Wrinkles
What is Smoothbeam Laser Treatment?
At BAXT CosMedical® we offer a variety of laser and light source technologies to address skin damage associated with acne and aging. Smoothbeam is FDA approved for treating acne and was originally FDA approved for treating wrinkles.
Smoothbeam is a diode laser that is absorbed by the water in the under-surface of the skin. It shrinks the oil glands and gets rid of acne cysts, bumps and scars. It remodels the collagen underneath the skin and minimizes wrinkles.
Am I a Good Candidate for The Smoothbeam Laser?
Smoothbeam, a non-invasive laser, treats:
- Acne – It improves acne by affecting the oil-producing sebaceous glands*
- Acne scars – It helps reduce acne scars by stimulating the production of new collagen*
- Fine lines/wrinkles and skin renewal – It helps increase the production of collagen and elastin in the skin to “fill” wrinkles and improve skin tone*.
Is Smoothbeam Laser Safe to Use on Different Skin Types and Color?
Yes, Smoothbeam laser is safe for all skin types and color. Dr. Rebecca Baxt advises patients who have a darker skin tone that extra care is taken to avoid hyperpigmentation.
How Many Smoothbeam Laser Treatments Are Needed and What Results Can I Expect?
Smoothbeam technology delivers laser energy to a patient’s skin with a cooling device that protects the outer layer of the skin. Most of BAXT CosMedical®’s Smoothbeam laser patients have reported feeling a slight tingling sensation. For some patients, a topical anesthetic can be used.
BAXT CosMedical®’s board-certified dermatologists recommend 3-5 treatments, on a schedule of one treatment approximately every 2 to 4 weeks and then a maintenance protocol. Many acne patients see a noticeable reduction of acne lesions by the second or third treatments*.
