How Does Ultherapy PRIME® Work?
The Ultherapy PRIME® skin tightening treatment focuses targeted energy to the deep layers of tissue while leaving surface skin unaffected. By heating tissue with sound waves, collagen, and elastin production increases, resulting in rejuvenated, youthful skin.

What Can I Expect During an Ultherapy PRIME® Treatment?
During an in-office Ultherapy PRIME® treatment at BAXT CosMedical®, the skin is cleansed, and ultrasound gel is applied to the target area. The improved handpiece is placed on the skin, delivering low-level focused heat as it moves over the target area.
The procedure typically take 60-90 minutes to treat the entire face and neck; a partial face or brow treatment usually takes around 30 minutes.
Mild discomfort may be experienced as the heat is delivered beneath the skin. Discomfort levels vary from patient to patient and on the area(s) treated. Dr. Baxt tells her patients that the discomfort and after-effects of an Ultherapy PRIME® treatment are usually minor, temporary, and limited to the treatment area. These can include:
- Slight redness
- Slight swelling
- Some soreness
- Tingling/numbness
- Tenderness
- Rarely, bruising
After your Ultherapy PRIME® treatment, you can go straight home. The area that was treated may be sore and slightly numb to the touch for a few weeks afterwards. Dr. Baxt advises her patients that each person is different when it comes to healing after an Ultherapy PRIME® procedure. However, in all cases, it takes time for the body to heal the micro-trauma caused by the ultrasound, eventually resulting in collagen growth and tightening. Results will vary from patient to patient, and on the condition and quality of the skin and area being treated.
