There are several skin care must-do’s for you to include in your planning and calendar!
“The most important is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist a year in advance to discuss your aesthetic and/or dermatologic skin concerns so that a customized plan can be developed to allow for the optimal time to achieve your goals,” says Dr. Baxt.
Wedding or Special Event Skin Prep Guidelines and Timeline
Dr. Rebecca Baxt advises that the most important skin pre-wedding and aesthetic enhancement steps are:
- Schedule an appointment with a medical specialist (dermatologist) to discuss any skin care concerns, such as acne and rosacea or others (nails, hair, etc.), at least a year in advance. Six months is okay but dependent upon your goals.
- Three to four months before the big day is not enough time! So, please don’t neglect or put your facial aesthetic enhancement goals on the back-burner.
- Don’t do anything new, such as changing your skincare or make-up products a couple of weeks before the event.
- Don’t go to a med spa or salon and get any aesthetic procedure 1 or 2 months before the big day! Dr. Baxt has helped many a frantic bride who had a negative reaction to a facial. It may be possible to help minimize the redness and other issues but why add the stress?
- If you are planning to add facial volume or get your lips augmented with facial fillers, come in to BAXT CosMedical® and discuss your options early in the planning process so the filler(s) can be done by Dr. Baxt, an injection specialist.
- For IPL, Lasers, and other medical devices, schedule early in the year of your planning for optimal results.
In addition to the skin care steps and aesthetic treatment guidelines recommended above, Dr. Rebecca Baxt stresses the following common-sense tips which can help you and your bridal party achieve healthy, glowing wedding day skin:
- Stay hydrated – Drink plenty of water daily!
- Eat a balanced diet – Fuel your body with healthy meal choices
- Manage stress – Planning and preparation can incredibly stressful, which may wreak havoc on skin.
- Get enough sleep – Maintain a healthy sleep routine.
- Manage your expectations – Be realistic, stay calm, and enjoy your special day.
If you’re ready to begin your pre-wedding or special event skin care routine, schedule a consultation with Dr. Rebecca Baxt and she can help develop a personalized plan to achieve your aesthetic goals.
